Final Score: Ava = 0 ; Playground = 1

Well...... for those of you that we haven't seen or talked to in a while, let's just say that our new year didn't exactly get started on the right foot.... LOL. Let's just say, there was a slight incident at the playground. Basically, Ava was going down the slide with David on the afternoon of New Year's Eve, and the sole of her shoe got stuck underneath her - and underneath Dave's...uhh... leg - as they were sliding down. Needless to say, it was an unpleasant experience for the both of them. We spent that night - ringing in the New Year - getting x-rays at the Mayo Clinic. Fantastic.

The x-rays didn't show any fractures at the time, but the doc said to come back in a week if things weren't completely better. So, Ava couldn't walk for a couple days, and then she started walking, but with a really sad little limp. So, I took her to the pediatrician for another check-up and more x-rays. She suggested I take her to a specialist, which I did this morning. The specialist was PHENOMENAL. She immediately showed me on the x-ray a hairline fracture that had been overlooked on Ava's right tibia. I was so relieved to finally have an accurate diagnosis!! The doctor gave Ava balloons and stickers and sang the "Elmo's World" theme song as she casted her leg. She was the best doctor ever! Ava was smiling and happy the whole time we were in her office, and even said"I love yooooou" and blew kisses to the doctor as we left. So, the cast only has to be on for about 2 weeks, and then her sad little leg drama will hopefully come to an end! Here are some pics and video of the bubs in her "purple sock".

Dave,
You should be ashamed of what you did to your daughter....Luckily there were others at the playground to intervene....

Poor Avas! She looks like she hobbles just fine though. I continue to be impressed by the mad dancing skillz of my nieces & nephews!

one of those things you hate to be right on. it looks like it is slowing her down just about as much as jeff's cast did! glad you got a great doctor, she sounded wonderful. just as long as the cast is off before the new babe

So sad!!! I swear Brooklyn is accident prone and everytime she gets hurt, it breaks my heart. The cast is very cute. Her dancing shows that she really doesn't mind having it on, so thats good. Hope the pregnancy is going well. Are you ready for two. I NEVER thought it would be this hard. Then again, I'm kind of a wimp. I'm sure you will do great.
